Operation Gore Watch: Al Gore bans media from San Antonio speech
The San Antonio Express-News reported several days ago that Al Gore is barring the media from covering his keynote address at the American Institute of Architects’ convention on Saturday.
It’s fairly safe to assume that Gore will be discussing eco-friendly, or green, architecture.

Barack Obama placed under Secret Service protection
Evidently, Barack Obama has just been placed under the watchful eye of the United States Secret Service.
According to CNN.com, Obama officials said the candidate has recently received some hate mail and threatening phone calls, but that there was no specific threat.

Chicago 2016 Olympics Update: UIC is home to Amateur World Boxing Championships
According to a Chicago Tribune report, the Amateur World Boxing Championship events will be held at the Pavilion at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
The Pavilion has already been slated to host the boxing events if the Chicago 2016 Olympics happen.
Should be interesting to watch, at least.

Chicago 2016 Olympics Update: Chi-town to host world amateur boxing championships
The International Amateur Boxing Association announced Thursday that Chicago would take Moscow’s place as the host city for this year’s amateur championships. Matches will be held from Oct. 17 to the final on Nov. 1.

Mets’ Reyes, Maine honored by MLB
Things may be looking up again for my New York Metropolitans after a brief slump, if you can even call it that. (They’re 16-10, 2nd place in the NL East.)
