Operation Gore Watch: Al Gore polling at 12 percent for projected Dem voters

Even without an active campaign, former veep Al Gore is stealing the show. And perhaps even some write-in votes.
According to a CNN.com report, projections have Gore stealing about 12 percent of votes in the Democratic Party primary.
I’m actually a bit surprised. Although I’ve been waiting for him to throw his hat in the ring, I didn’t expect him to be this popular.
The question is, if he continues to wait, will he be as popular?
A bigger question: Will Gore even run?

He’d better; he’s our only hope. Hillary is too polarizing and Barack will be smeared in every way possible by the right. They’ve already done their worst to Gore back in 2000 - and he won that election.
He’s a thousand times more personable now, done more important work and won’t be running with Joe Lieberman…what’s not to love?
The point? Gore won once; he could easily win again. People want their rightful president, not the squatter they’ve been stuck with for the last eight years.

When do the candidates have until to announce they are in the running?
