Operation Gore Watch: Despite repeated claims of non-candidacy, Al Gore still leaves door open (ABC News)

I found myself scratching my head yet again at another series of Al Gore quotes.

On tonight’s “Nightline” (and in a story on ABC.com), Gore was quoted as saying that while he’s “not a candidate,” he may still run in 2008.

“Look, we’re a year and half away from this election,” he said, “[I] see no need to say, ‘Okay. I’m not ever going to even think about that in the future.’”

Yet another hazy statement.

The interview seems to be a profile of Gore before the release of his new book, “The Assault on Reason.” In the book, Gore evidently lashes out at President George W. Bush, but tries to dismiss claims that it’s partisan politics. “When our country made a decision to invade Iraq, it’s too partisan to simply blame that on the current president,” Gore said in the interview.

Well, I’ll be taking a look at this interview tonight. (Hopefully it’ll be up on YouTube tomorrow.)

But what do you folks think; Will he run? If he does, would you vote for him?

    I tried to inform my parents at dinner that Al Gore may actually run, but it's a slim possibility. They didn't agree at all and said there is no way he would ever run. Guess who doesn't have informed parents? They should start reading your site more often.

    The fact that Al Gore FLEW around the world ranting on about his 'Inconvenient Truth' told em everything I needed to know about him.

    As for vague and hazy statements, politicians are expert at saying a lot, without actually saying anything at all. They are also renouned for not allowing themselves to be pinned down, ala Gore in his statement.

    The best line I ever heard was by a british politician who is in the Liberal Party -
    "I am neither for it, nor aganst it."

    OK, a fence sitter then. Great leader you would be.

    The one (and only) thing I can give Dub-Ya credit for is being decisive. Not that he could spell it, say it or know what it means.
